Thursday March 27th 2025:
12:00 pm – 1:30 pm– The indoor NATS Skills Arena™ prequalifying event will showcase NATS SafeTree™ Simulators (patent pending). Here, tree crew teams of two will compete in hands-on skill challenges that test both their mental and physical abilities, all while a live audience cheers them on from a safe viewing area!
Note 1: The Skills Arena™ event (MAX 24 SPOTS CONSISTING OF 12 TEAMS OF 2) will be held as a micro training camp and prequalifying round competition for the outdoor ArborSPORTS™ competition event.
Note 2: Teams of two will compete in technical skills competitions each day. NATS will supply materials and limited PPE for the contestants.
Note 3: All ArborSPORTS™ competitors must successfully complete the NATS Skills Arena™ event to be eligible to compete in the outdoor ArborSPORTS™ Stadium event.
2:30 pm – 4:00 pm First Annual ArborSPORTS™ Competition! Here tree crew teams of two teams who successfully complete the pre-qualifying round will go head-to-head in the first annual ArborSPORTS™ competition debuting at Arbor Expo 2025!!
Note 1: ArborSPORTS™ event (MAX 12 SPOTS CONSISTING OF TOP 6 TEAMS OF 2 from prequalifying round)
Qualifying teams will compete in a knockout round tournament style competition in the disciplines of Chainsaw Cutting Skills, and Technical Rigging Skills.
Note 2: All ArborSPORTS™ competitors must successfully complete the NATS Skills Arena™ event to be eligible to compete in the outside ArborSPORTS™ Stadium event.

ALL COMPETITORS MUST BRING the following:
PPE Requirements: Participants shall bring their own PPE which meets the following standards listed below. A PPE inspection will be performed prior to participation in event beginning, and NATS reserves the right to deny participation in event programming to any individual who it determines, in its sole and absolute discretion, lacks adequate PPE or is otherwise unfit to perform a given skill or task. PPE required for this event is listed below.
All PPE must be in safe working condition NOT expired according to manufacturers specifications.
- Head Protection (ANSI Z89.1)
- Hearing Protection
- Eye Protection (ANSI Z87.1)
- High Viz Shirt Class 2 (ANSI / ISEA 107)
- Hand Protection (gloves applicable for the task)
- Chainsaw Leg protection (ASTM F1897-2014 or newer: look for the UL label)
- Foot Protection (a sturdy lace-up work boot 6” height that supports to the ankle or above, or ASTM F2412 & F2413 protective footwear)
- Other PPE as may be required by NATS based on applicable site conditions.
